Every year, at La Camaradière High School, a new school president is chosen by the students. This year, Charlie-Rose Simard was selected to represent the school.
Our new president is an opinionated, respectful, and open-minded girl. It’s a first for her to represent a group of people and not be the one represented.
Her friends and her desire to do things for the students, especially during her last year at La Camaradière, pushed her to present herself as the school’s president. She was pleasantly surprised to hear that she had won because it was a tight race.
Charlie-Rose has a lot of objectives for this year, mostly for the seniors, because she wants to make their last year of high school memorable. She would like to organize activities outside of school hours, like going to the movies and watching the sunrise with them. She would also like to bring back disco nights, like 2 or 3 times during the year.
Charlie-Rose’s most significant objective is to do more themed days, she explained that, “it makes the year more fun and gives students a reason to come to school.”
Even if our new school’s president has many great ideas, she still has limits. Some domains need improvement, like the lack of space in our school and the girls’ bathroom, but she doesn’t have the capacity to do any wonder.
According to Charlie-Rose, there is always a waiting line for the girls’ bathroom or some clogged toilets.
For the lack of space part, she thinks that there’s not enough space for 1700 students, “It is suffocating to be this much.”
Our president’s message to La Camaradière’s students is “to involve yourself in the school. Either the student council or the different sports teams we have. Not only does it look good in CEGEP admissions, but it also makes you gain skills and confidence.”
