For a while, teenagers started to use artificial intelligence to do their homework without having to work, to help them have good grades on exams and to have more time to do their own activities in the evening. Most people think that they will not get caught. It’s actually really easy for them to cheat without teachers noticing.
However, many teachers still noticed it. Every teenager writing similar things on exams, students having “too perfect ” answers, causes teachers to have doubts. They unfortunately have to penalize them because it’s unfair to all the kids who really worked. Hard-working students feel discouraged when cheaters get better grades than they do.
A new rule was recently applied to ban phones in high schools. The rule requests everyone to leave their phones in their locker until the last bell rings. Some people think that the new rule could prevent students from cheating, but did it really?
Restricting phone access may reduce cheating at school, but it doesn’t prevent students from cheating at home. They can still find ways to cheat by asking AI to do their homework, and by writing important information they’ve found on the internet on a piece of paper to have all the answers to their exams.
Teenagers can also find many YouTube videos by influencers that show easy, original ways to cheat in class. For example, influencers show them how to position themselves strategically to see another student’s paper or how to hide notes during an exam. The kids are then influenced and try it. After seeing the great grades they can achieve with those methods, it becomes a habit, and they encourage their friends to cheat too.
Teenagers tell us the reason why they are cheating: ” It’s mostly because of unclear work, pressure to succeed, or teachers giving too much work “. Cheating becomes extremely common, leading students to think they can get away with it with no consequences. That pushes them to become cheaters.
