The reason for this redesign is the school’s lack of classrooms. The solution was therefore to add one in the library.
This both confused and shocked many students when they returned from summer break, as the shelves had to be moved to make some space. This first made it complicated to find books, as students were very familiar with the old layout. For example, the English books are now at the opposite corner of the room.
They also noticed that it felt more cramped than before. Because the tables are smaller and positioned in a narrower space, they are indeed closer together. The students may also think that finding a spot in the library is harder because the number of rectangular tables was nearly cut in half.
Along with the shelves’ placement, the whole look is fresher. The current library has a more modern, cool feel compared to the previous look, which was warmer and darker. The tables are now smaller, and the chairs are plastic ones in a light blue tone that complements the rest of the furniture.
Desks in a trapezoidal shape now surround the pillars, a rather fun touch that allowed for individual desks. This display is around the three pillars, one of which is reserved for computers, used exclusively for school projects.
La Camaradière’s library now has fun features that weren’t there before, which is undoubtedly wonderful, but students still miss the coziness of the old design.
